Infinite Way Study Practice
July-September 2002

The following study practice is designed for those students who already have at least some background with Joel Goldsmith's Infinite Way teaching. My first recommendation would be that you go to the source text or tape where these messages are presented and listen to the original instruction.

Adapted From Joel Goldsmith's "Spiritual Interpretation of Scripture"
Chapter - The Law

One of Joel Goldsmith's practices regarding any explanation of Spiritual literature was to only speak to those passages of which he himself had been given an inner realization of Truth. He readily admitted that much of the Bible had very little Spiritual Truth for him personally because he had not yet received an inner interpretation regarding much of it. This is important for Infinite Way students to remember when studying the Bible or other Spiritual works. When we read Spiritual books we must read them in the light of Spiritual interpretation, not as literal historical documents. A good practice then is to take passages into your meditations without any preconceived ideas whatsoever as to what their intended meaning might have been. A good way to begin might be to simply acknowledge your lack of enlightenment regarding scripture and voice something to the effect of, "Let Thy Intelligence interpret this passage." In doing this the Truth will begin to unfold within you and as this happens the Word of God is then manifested as your personal experience not that of some other person who is telling you to believe this or that particular unfoldment that they have had.

For this lesson Joel has asked us to study the Ten Commandments and most particularly the First Commandment "Thou shalt have no other gods before me." In the silence and sacredness of your own consciousness try dwelling on this Commandment daily for a period of time until you yourself receive some internal message as to its Spiritual significance. After you have received some enlightenment on the First Commandment precede to the Second "Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image." Then, every few days precede through the Ten Commandments in your meditations, listening for the Presence within to announce Itself. Remember that this does not mean that you ever need to hear an audible voice speaking to you, but that something within your being is enlightened to the point that you now have a greater Spiritual understanding than you previously possessed. When you complete all of the Ten Commandments you may wish to go back through them a second time and see if any new unfoldments arise in your consciousness.

Remember also that the Ten Commandments were given to the Hebrew people as God's Law by Moses, and generally they have been considered human tenets which we must follow to gain entrance into God's Kingdom. It was Jesus who brought the Spiritual Truth which nullified this path of obeying human rules to reach God. However, do not be fooled by this either. The Ten Commandments contain a hidden Spiritual Truth themselves that when recognized and followed will lift you up into the same Oneness which Jesus taught in his ministry. And why is this? Because the Kingdom of God is within you. And if you seek the Spiritual answers to scripture, be they in the writings of the Old Testament, the New Testament, the Koran, the Bhagavad-Gita, the Tao Te Ching, or any of the other great Spiritual works of the world, be assured that if you stay on the path, the Truth is ever revealing itself to you.
